The outside wall

The artistic intervention reflects on the walls of the eventual psychiatric Vinatier’s hospital / prison. The idea is that the inertial mass of the wall becomes a living substance. On the outside, a series of polished stainless steel trunks will rhythm vertically the concrete wall of six meter. The system adapts itself to the architectural events with the presence of existing trees.

L’intervention artistique porte sur les murs d’enceinte du futur hôpital psychiatrique/prison le Vinatier. L’idée est que la masse inerte du mur devienne une matière vivante. À l’extérieur, une série de troncs en inox poli rythmera verticalement le mur d’enceinte en béton de six mètres. Le système s’adapte aux évènements de l’architecture, à la présence des arbres existants.

The inside wall

On the interior wall, the pace of the trunks is resumed on the wall in layers of waterproof varnish. With the sun’s shining glare of varnish, one is able to distinguish the trees, where’ as the rain reveals the traces, since the wall’s paint is impenetrable.

À l’intérieur, le rythme est repris sur le mur en couches de vernis hydrofuge. Le soleil fait briller les reflets du vernis, on devine les arbres, tandis que la pluie révèle les traces, car le mur peint est imperméable.
